CARMEN LAEL HINES is a writer, curator and researcher working in text, video and public interventions. She studies the way culture is produced and manifests itself on built and digital environments, and is interested in radical politics, popular culture and design typologies (amongst other things). For Austria’s contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale 2021, she supported the realisation of the exhibition ‘Platform Austria’ in digital, palpable and editorial form(s), curating the pavilion’s discursive programming from September – November 2021. Her research engages Platform Capitalism, Gender/Sexuality Studies, Theories of Social Reproduction/Labour which inform a range of academic, artistic and curatorial activities, presented in spaces including: Architekturzentrum Wien(as part of the Claiming*Spaces collective), Austrian Cultural Forum New York, Institute for Contemporary Art Graz, Austrian Pavilion(Biennale Architettura 2021), University of Bologna, University of Glasgow, e-flux Screening Room(NY), amongst others.
