Platform Capitalism is a business model which bases itself on the monetisation of connection and intermediary infrastructure. Platform urbanism is the result and enabler of these monetary processes. Data is a key resource of Platform urbanism. To counter-act Platform Capitalism, we need to abandon the concept of data as property. Data is not our personal property, and – despite its name – data is also not a given. It is a collectively produced reference system which helps us navigate the way we want to live together (the way we co-exist). Data is not private property it is a common good, which needs to be taken care of like (many) any other precious commons.
